Grand Strand Humane Society asked for emergency fosters to shelter 22 outdoor dogs after cold temperatures were forecast Monday night.

An early cold snap has forced New Directions to issue a code blue for Myrtle Beach's homeless population; the group said it will extend shelter hours tonight if temperatures remain in the 30s — the shelter currently has 22 beds available and usually sees 30 or more walk-ins during cold snaps.

The S.C. Department of Public Health urged residents to update their vaccines before fall and winter holiday gatherings to lower risks from flu, RSV, COVID-19 and measles.
