  • American flags fill Warbird Park ahead of Veterans Day—volunteers and veterans set up 250 flags with tags that explain key moments in American history. Crews painted a 'Thank You Vets' message near a new parking lot at 150 Farrow Parkway, and the display flies today before returning on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.  WPDE
  • Grand Strand Humane Society asked for emergency fosters to shelter 22 outdoor dogs after cold temperatures were forecast Monday night. The society said foster homes must keep the dogs separate from other pets and welcomed large crate donations, with visits accepted (noon to 6 p.m.) for the next three nights.  WPDE
  • An early cold snap has forced New Directions to issue a code blue for Myrtle Beach's homeless population; the group said it will extend shelter hours tonight if temperatures remain in the 30s — the shelter currently has 22 beds available and usually sees 30 or more walk-ins during cold snaps.  WPDE
  • The inaugural Crafters, Vendors & Artisans Holiday Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Carolina Forest Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—130 local vendors will offer unique, handmade gifts with free admission, parking and a shuttle for overflow parking.  WPDE

  • Horry-Georgetown Technical College gifted two students brand-new tool kits—worth about $1,500 each—to ease financial struggles while they study and prepare for future careers.  WMBF News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Grisset Landing in Conway say a bald eagle nest is at risk from tree removal by HC King Construction — federal law forbids cutting trees within 330 feet of eagle nests without a permit. They have reached out to wildlife officials to check if the nest is protected as construction continues.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • The S.C. Department of Public Health urged residents to update their vaccines before fall and winter holiday gatherings to lower risks from flu, RSV, COVID-19 and measles. Officials recommended that people aged 6 months or older get a flu shot while at-risk adults and pregnant individuals receive RSV or COVID-19 vaccines — vaccines are available at local pharmacies and no-cost clinics.  WPDE
