If you live near Conway, mark Dec. 8. Horry County Council didn't approve the development agreement for a 372-home project at its last meeting, saying it wanted to hear more from the community. Council members say they've scheduled more public input for that date.
Developer attorney Shep Guyton says the choice is the 372-home plan, with added environmental buffers, or a plan that would allow 243 homes without County Council approval. The project sits on roughly 180 acres. Guyton says the agreement would put a traffic light in up front instead of waiting on the state.

- Council: must still approve rezoning and development agreement
- Nearby schools: between 70 and 86 percent capacity

In exchange for the rezoning, the developer has offered a package of concessions. Neighbors worry about traffic and floodwater, and a traffic analysis projects daily trips on area roads would jump by nearly 3,000.
