ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Cherry Grove are worried as a $72 million beach renourishment project overlooks the stretch north of 61st Avenue, where high tide shrinks the shore to 10 feet (raising concerns about erosion). The Army Corps of Engineers will assess the area and update locals on Friday. WPDE

- ➤ North Myrtle Beach appointed its first Public Arts Commission on Monday, Jan. 5 by unanimous vote, naming five members—including Jennifer Batten and Lauren Woodward—to serve four-year terms advising council and the Planning and Development Department on public art projects and grants. - ➤ Airport officials opened a new 50,000 sqft terminal with six gates and a restaurant on Dec. 1, responding to record passenger growth. The airport will begin phase one of a $160 million runway reconstruction in February 2026 using a temporary runway on the general aviation side. My Horry News
