  • More than 500 volunteers are preparing 13,000 free meals at 17 locations for the 37th Annual Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day in Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas. The event began after Hurricane Hugo in 1989 (a tradition that continues to inspire community fellowship).  WFXB Fox TV

  • Residents can shop for last-minute holiday gifts at The Olive Shoppe, available at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, The Market Common in Myrtle Beach + The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington today. Orders can also be placed online for doorstep delivery.  WFXB Fox TV
  • The South Carolina District Office is seeking nominations for 2026 National Small Business Week Awards, with entries due by 2 p.m. on Dec. 22 & winners to be honored in Columbia during the May weeklong ceremony.  WPDE
  • Raising Cane’s may open a new restaurant in Myrtle Beach as the Community Appearance Board reviews a proposal for a 4,570 sqft spot along Jason Boulevard today. The plan is still in early stages (the closest location is in Mount Pleasant) with no confirmed details yet.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Klig’s Kites, a staple on Celebrity Circle at Broadway at The Beach, will close on Dec. 31 after co-founder Bruce Kligman passed in September (business partner Richard Kligman said the decision fits a changing market).  WFXB Fox TV
  • Klig’s Kites will close its Broadway at the Beach location after 30 years + the business cited multiple factors in its decision, marking the end of a longtime local favorite spot. Residents may notice changes along the tourist area.  WMBF News

  • Veterinarians stressed the need to update pet vaccinations before holiday travel and boarding, with Todd Brown at On Point Animal Hospital noting that rabies, distemper, parvo, and bordetella shots help protect pets (despite some owners' pushback).  WPDE
