ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Horry County is moving forward with a project to reduce wildfire risk on a 3,700-acre wetland near Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve—using mechanical vegetation removal and controlled burns approved by the Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers—that will last seven to ten years, with nearby residents receiving notifications.  WPDE

  • Coastal Carolina University fired head football coach Tim Beck on Sunday and is now searching for a new coach. Defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson will serve as interim for the bowl game — the change came after a review of the football program.  WMBF News
