  • The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach is preparing a Thanksgiving dinner to serve about 200 people from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—up from its usual 150 served during lunch—and extra volunteers are helping despite delays from SNAP benefit freezes.  WPDE
  • Low Country Community Church is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday (Nov 27) for all local residents.  WPDE
  • The One SC Fund granted $405,185 to four regional food banks to help supply free food and essential items after a SNAP delay affected over 550,000 residents — the grants reached food banks serving all 46 counties. The fund received contributions from 695 donors and was activated on October 28 to support emergency food distribution during the crisis.  WPDE
  • Myrtle Beach High School sophomore Paityn Streater was surprised to be chosen to cheer with the Spirit of America team in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after applying from an Instagram post—she has been rehearsing in New York and will perform in the parade on Thanksgiving Day.  The Post and Courier

  • Conway business owners reported an early surge in holiday shopping as tourists and locals visited the city for Halloween decorations—450,000 visitors came in October and stores began stocking extra goods.   • Downtown Conway’s small businesses will join in celebrating Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29 — a day set by the U.S. Small Business Administration to boost local holiday sales.   • U.S. Army veteran Jay Griffith uses his 26 years of military training to run two Myrtle Beach home-service businesses — Conserva Irrigation and Superior Fence and Rail — with his family, focusing on saving water and keeping fences strong.   • Turkey prices in 2025 will be about $34.65 for a 15-pound bird, marking an 11% rise from last year even though prices remain lower than in 2022 and 2023 — the increase follows a bird flu outbreak that reduced the U.S. turkey flock to its smallest size in 40 years.
