  • Weather Authority Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski will broadcast live weather updates from local venues as he visits Broadway Grand Prix on November 20, The Market Common on December 3, Coastal Air Plus on December 9 and Conway Ford on December 16—America’s Furniture Warehouse also accepts new, unwrapped toy donations to support the Toys for Tots drive.  WPDE
  • Brandy Campbell of Century 21 Palms Realty said the firm is hosting its 5th annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway for Champion Autism Network families, now with home delivery to help those in need. Champion Autism Network will also hold its Christmas Party at Crown Reef Indoor Waterpark on Dec. 6—registration is required by Dec. 1 with fees set at $5 per adult and $3 per child.  WFXB Fox TV
  • The Market Common annual Tree Lighting is set to take place Saturday at 6pm along Deville Street in Myrtle Beach. The free event will feature photos with Santa + live entertainment, vendors, shopping and dining options, and it will end around 8pm.  WFXB Fox TV
  • A local quilting shop in Myrtle Beach volunteered to finish a 30-year-old baby quilt that Karen had started by hand before she died on March 1, and the piece was meticulously completed to honor her original vision. The finished quilt was delivered by Loraine Huemmer—who led the project—to her niece Kaity during a moving baby shower on Oct 4, setting the stage for it to become a cherished family heirloom.  My Horry News

  • Allegiant announced two new nonstop routes from Myrtle Beach International Airport to Ohio and New York for the summer season—passengers can expect more travel options when the flights start.  WPDE

CULTURE NEWS

  • Carolina Country Music Festival returns for its 11th year in Myrtle Beach from June 4-7, 2026, with over 40 stars set to perform and headliners including Blake Shelton, Post Malone, Luke Bryan and Riley Green. The event will open Thursday at 3 p.m. at 812 N Ocean Blvd — tickets are available in a limited-time Black Friday deal until Nov 28.  WPDE

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Horry Electric Cooperative will install self-healing smart switches on utility poles in Conway — a move that should speed up power restoration — and the new devices will be in service soon.  WPDE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a meeting on Nov. 17, the Horry County Schools Board of Education discussed holiday bonus options for employees and Superintendent Clifford Jones recommended a plan awarding full-time staff $896 and part-timers $448 at a cost of $6.5 million—citing a record 89.6% graduation rate. Chief Finance Officer John Gardner presented four bonus scenarios while Jones explained that future bonuses will use a performance-based model.  My Horry News

  • Eighth grader Edwin Mendoza from North Myrtle Beach Middle School won the top prize on Tuesday in Horry County's environmental contest for turning trash into treasure—his work highlights creative ways to reuse waste.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began offshore mobilization this weekend to start a $72 million beach renourishment project along the Grand Strand after hurricanes Ian and Debby damaged the coast. Crews will work round the clock to restore 2 million cubic yards of sand and repair dunes—officials said parts of the beach will remain open for visitors.  WMBF News
  • Horry County officials approved an 8-acre rezoning on Forestbrook Rd to let Tidelands Health & Intuitive Health build a new emergency and urgent care facility with on-site lab and imaging services operating 24/7. The Forestbrook project is part of a plan that includes similar facilities planned for River Oaks Blvd in Myrtle Beach and Highway 501 in Conway.  WPDE
