  • Local DQ franchisee Ramy Elshaer will open a Dairy Queen on Monday, Nov. 24 at 4518 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach—serving fast food and ice cream treats like Blizzards, Stackburgers, and Dilly Bars. The restaurant will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. with the drive-thru open until midnight.  My Horry News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Henry McMaster and the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce announced that the UI tax rates for 2026 will decrease or stay the same, and businesses are projected to save $40 million compared to last year — the largest cut since 2011. Businesses with no charges from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025 will be assigned tax class 1 at 0.06% — while new companies and those in other classes will receive lower rates averaging a 34.7% reduction.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Conway Medical Center has added K9 Officer Boyka— a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois— to its security team, making it the first hospital in the region to hire a trained dog. Boyka trains with his handler Shon McCluskey, a retired Myrtle Beach officer, 16 hours each month to stay ready and safe for duty.  WPDE
  • Conway Medical Center announced on Monday morning that it added K9 Officer Boyka—a three-year-old Belgian Malinois who lost his tail during Army training—as a security officer to improve hospital safety. Boyka's handler, Shon McCluskey, a retired Myrtle Beach police officer, finished a six-week training program and will work with Boyka monthly to maintain their certifications.  WMBF News
