A new report shows that out of more than 430,000 South Carolina parents wanting after school care, only 18% can enroll due to cost, transportation, and location challenges.

Racepath Community Learning Center in Myrtle Beach is expanding its program—aiming to help more students get the care they need after school.

Coastal Carolina University received a fourth-place rating in the Most Innovative Universities ranking among over 80 schools in the upcoming 2026 Regional Universities South standings by U.S. News and World Report—this recognition also comes as the school was placed 15th in Top Public Schools and 16th in Best Colleges for Veterans, underscoring its focus on hands-on learning.

At Brooks Stadium, Coastal Carolina University hosted a Halloween-themed game against Marshall with students and fans dressed in costumes and Conway’s festive decorations brightening the scene.

Local radio personality Jeff Benton called the event a family affair and noted that kids trick-or-treated while the city council watched a Medieval Times halftime show—underscoring a boost to local economic activity.
