- ➤ On Tuesday, November 4 from 4-9 p.m., more than a dozen restaurants will serve local dishes at the 41st Taste of the Town event held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center (2101 North Oak Street). The event, which will raise funds for St. Andrew Catholic School, is expected to attract 7,000 to 9,000 attendees. WPDE
- ➤ Crooked Hammock in North Myrtle Beach is hosting the First Responders Hammock Takeover from 4 to 8 p.m. to honor National First Responder Day—first responders with ID get 15% off meals while 15% of sales go to the Joe Tamney Fund and the winning chili from the Hook and Ladle Crooked Chili Challenge firefighter cook-off is served until Nov. 16. - ➤ North Myrtle Beach residents David and Paige Watkins, along with their children, grandparents and aunt, were stranded Tuesday at a Montego Bay resort after Hurricane Melissa made landfall at 1 p.m.—the Category 5 storm then caused several fatalities while the Carolina Emergency Response Team planned a relief flight later this week to help them return home.
