  • Socastee hosted a Trunk-or-Treat event on Sunday that raised funds for former Socastee High alum Zoe Knick, who faces a rare pineal gland brain tumor and begins radiation treatment today—Cheer Coach Hannah Sweat organized the second annual fundraiser with carnival games and food to support her care.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials reported that the proposed Carolina Bays Parkway extension may threaten a historic Brooksville community—placing a long-used home, Mt. Calvary No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church, and a cemetery with over 120 graves at risk. Public comments were accepted until Nov 21 and DOTs will review submissions before making a final route decision in February.  The Post and Courier
