ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A king tide, wind-driven rough surf and rain caused flooding in Cherry Grove as side roads near Duffy Street and Lake Avenue were under water on Saturday—beach access walkways were taped off for safety. The city will re-evaluate closed access points early next week while about two more inches of rain are forecast through Monday.  My Horry News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials announced Saturday that emergency repairs have been completed after a sewer force main break in Myrtle Beach—restoring normal operations.  WMBF News
  • Residents will meet mayoral and city council candidates at the Myrtle Beach NAACP event on Tuesday, Oct 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thomas Maeser Auditorium at Horry-Georgetown Technical College Conference Center (950 Crabtree Lane), where moderator April Garner Davis will guide residents in asking questions on justice, opportunity, and the city’s future.  WPDE
  • The Horry County Sheriff’s Office held its fourth annual Faith and Blue event at Palmetto Point Church on October 11, where officers from 10 local agencies gathered — from North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Surfside and Myrtle Beach — for prayer and support.  WPDE
