The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will start a $72 million emergency beach renourishment project in December to deposit two million cubic yards of sand along a 26-mile stretch of the Grand Strand, repairing erosion from recent hurricanes.
Contractors will mobilize in October and work until April using hopper dredges and safety zones for beachgoers and wildlife—meeting urgent repair needs.

Savannah's Playground in The Market Common is set to close for renovations starting Monday, Oct.
13 and will remain closed until early 2026. The $2.1 million project—approved in Myrtle Beach’s FY26 budget—will add new synthetic turf, sun shades and improved equipment.
