- ➤ Genova's Pizza & Pasta held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. today at 4620 Dick Pond Road—introducing New York-style pizzas and authentic family recipes to local residents. - ➤ Trader Joe’s will open its first Myrtle Beach-area store on Sayebrook Parkway today despite Tropical Storm Imelda—company officials said the storm now remains far from the coast. - ➤ Myrtle Beach is investing nearly $100 million in its downtown Arts and Innovation District to build a vibrant space for business and culture. The city has issued a Request for Qualifications for redeveloping 13 acres—proposals must be submitted by Oct. 30 as streetscaping and infrastructure work continues through the year. WPDE

- ➤ Tropical Storm Imelda is staying off the coast today but Myrtle Beach will see rain and dangerous rip currents until Oct. 2—officials say schools and local services are running as usual while residents in tidal flood areas should stay cautious. The National Weather Service reports that some locations may receive 1–2 inches of rain with isolated flash flooding predicted. The Post and Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina DMV now gives commercial driver’s licenses and permits only to U.S. citizens and green card holders because of a federal rule that took effect Monday—drivers with current licenses keep their privileges until renewal. The rule does not change regular driver’s licenses. WPDE

REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Loris city planning commission issued letters of conditional approval on Sept. 25 for the first two phases of Silver Oak Cottages, a project that will add 28 single family homes on 6,600 square-foot lots. Developer Neil Johnson from Heritage Construction of Myrtle Beach said the approval secures a highway access permit and that the project will feature sidewalks, a landscaped entrance, and open space — plans that aim to create a walkable community.
