  • Tropical Depression 9 is set to become Tropical Storm Imelda later today as it moves north through the Bahamas—local impacts will include widespread showers, heavy rains, and coastal flooding at the Grand Strand with dangerous surf and beach erosion expected through early next week.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Horry County resident Natalie Boyd accused Coastal Otolaryngology Associates and surgeon Dr. Richard Osman of removing her healthy thyroid tissue without proper consent, which led to a jury awarding her $5.1 million for economic and non-economic damages—Boyd claims the error caused lifelong health issues. The defendants have asked for a new trial and dispute the verdict, arguing that the removal was within the consent given and necessary for safe access during her spine surgery.  The Post and Courier
