- ➤ Myrtle Beach hosted a remembrance ceremony at Warbird Park to honor the victims and heroes of the September 11 attacks, where speakers including a New York firefighter and a retired Coast Guard officer shared personal stories of loss and hope. A piece of steel from the World Trade Center served as a lasting reminder to pass the memory of that day to future generations. WPDE
- ➤ Grayson Gatlin, an 11-year-old surfer, is riding his board every day in September to raise $5,000 for remote communities in Indonesia—communities that need clean water, food and healthcare. His mother films his rides as he works hard to reach his goal and plans to raise even more funds next year. WMBF News
- ➤ Myrtle Beach residents have urged the city to address a dangerous property at 1129 9th Avenue South where needles and trash in the front yard threaten child safety—city officials declared the house uninhabitable and set a week for the owner to clean up before crews act on Thursday, Sept 18. - ➤ On Thursday, local firefighters climbed 110 stories at Yachtsman Resort South Tower starting at 8:46 a.m. to honor Sept 11 victims—public supporters joined the climb to pay their respects. WPDE

- ➤ On Thursday, Coastal High School students interacted with birds from the Center of Birds of Prey as part of the Preserve Program inside the classroom. The school will introduce a new living creature each month using its 100-acre preserve property — October's lesson will focus on bats. WPDE

- ➤ The Surfside Beach town council approved renaming the 'E District' to 'Surfside Beach Pier Village' on Sept. 9 to better market the businesses along Ocean Boulevard from River City Cafe to First Avenue South + the new name was chosen unanimously and its rollout with signage remains under review. - ➤ Horry County broke ground on the new Fire Station Six near the current station off Highway 917 in Loris to better serve the growing Loris and Finklea areas — construction will be completed and operational in the second half of 2026. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ North Myrtle Beach will host its second short-term rental information gathering event at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center on Tuesday, Sep. 30 at 6:00 p.m., where STR operators and managers will share their challenges and potential solutions while noting that no ordinance changes are proposed.
