A once empty plot in Conway is now a thriving community garden revived by Patsy Baker with vegetables, fruit trees, and bushes grown through community donations and volunteer work.

The space will soon serve as a classroom for all ages to learn how to grow food for neighbors.

Community members held a vigil Monday for 5-year-old Saylor Hayes as they gathered to honor her memory and support her family.

Local residents have donated funds to help a North Myrtle Beach police officer and his family, who lost their home after lightning struck and started a fire.

The donations support the family's early recovery and help secure temporary housing.

This month, the community partners with Louis Segreto 26 Foundation — a group that helps ease healthcare financial gaps for families.

Since 2014, the foundation has aided over 1,200 families with more than $500,000 in grants.

During Labor Day weekend, large crowds visited Grand Strand as tourists reported varying travel costs, with some paying up to $1800 for lodging + fuel and dining expenses rising compared to previous years.

Coastal sea turtle hatching season is breaking records with over 8,000 nests along the coast and local spots like Litchfield Beach reporting four nests, while SCUTE advises residents to protect hatchlings by turning off lights and clearing away chairs (or umbrellas) that might trap the babies.

Volunteers at Myrtle Beach State Park conducted four turtle nest inventories this season that recorded over 8,000 nests and noted both successful and unsuccessful hatchings—beachgoers are reminded to fill holes and remove trash to protect hatchlings, and a public inventory is scheduled for tomorrow at 7 a.m. at access S1.

Crews are working to improve storm drainage and relocate a pump station, which has closed 24th Avenue North between Ocean Boulevard and Kings Highway.

The closure will last through August 2027, and drivers are advised to plan for delays using alternate routes.

Coastal Carolina quarterback Deuce Bailey — who threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's season opener at West Virginia — was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

He will return to Conway for a home opener against Fordham at Brooks Stadium on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
