  • 70-year-old Alton Wayne Fonville Jr.—a vacationer from Ohio—died on Thursday after he suffered a sudden medical emergency while swimming near 16th Avenue North in Surfside Beach.  WMBF News

  • Today, Myrtle Beach business news feature new Breeze Airways flights to New Orleans twice a week with fares from $59 and plans for two pickleball ventures—one a 40,000-square-foot complex in Carolina Forest set for 2026 and another a $3 million expansion at Tidal Creek to add 10 courts. Other updates include a long-running deli closing, new restaurant openings including a Greek-themed spot honoring a mother's dream, condo sales at Yachtsman Resort, a new VR experience, and construction starting on Conway’s Coastal Centre Mall transformation along with a premium hotel on Ocean Boulevard.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Surfers gathered in Surfside Beach on Sunday for the 7th annual Carolina Cup, which moved to the Surfside Pier from the Holiday Inn.
