- ➤ Federal and local funding cuts are forcing Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach to scale back its Children’s Hunger Initiative Program that feeds kids—this may reduce the meals served and affect families who rely on the program. WMBF News
- ➤ A woman is asking for help finding Aldi Bear—her daughter's beloved friend—which went missing along Highway 17 near 13th South by Krispy Kreme; community members reported sighting him in the middle of the road. WPDE

- ➤ A sailboat washed ashore near Ocean Creek Resort Monday morning after its owner fell asleep while traveling north, and officers secured the area and removed the boat while he did not need medical care. WPDE

- ➤ A Myrtle Beach judge heard a motion to reconsider bond for 19-year-old Gary Abraham—charged with the murder of 16-year-old Jakolbi Taylor shot at the 1600 block of North Ocean Boulevard in July—and will make a decision within 24 hours. WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor McMaster signed Executive Order 2025-30 that directs the South Carolina Department of Social Services to ask the USDA for federal approval to ban the purchase of candy, energy drinks, soft drinks, and sweetened beverages with food stamps— the agency must submit its waiver request within 14 days. - ➤ Fire and emergency management crews finished a large-scale training exercise at Myrtle Beach International Airport today. The drill, mandated by the FAA, included airport staff (firefighters, paramedics, medical examiners and first responders) and comes as the airport plans to boost its emergency team by 20% next year. - ➤ Myrtle Beach introduced a new fleet of drones in April that use cameras and ArcGIS Pro software to simulate flood conditions—GIS Technician Izzy Champ said the system helps multiple city departments plan for potential flooding. Captain Jonathan Evans of the fire department said the tool will guide his crew in planning evacuations along flooded streets. WMBF News

- ➤ Coastal Carolina University’s College of Humanities and Fine Arts and MyHorryNews have launched a sports media internship program for the fall semester, where four CCU students will work with newsroom staff to produce digital and print content covering local high school games and interviews with student-athletes and coaches.
