- ➤ City employees from several departments cleaned Futrell Park on Aug.22 by picking up trash, removing weeds, and pruning shrubs between 10 a.m. and noon, while local residents and the fire department also helped maintain the park. My Horry News
- ➤ The Little River Chamber of Commerce announced a new annual Patriot’s Day Festival to honor military veterans, first responders and public service members. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 13 at the Little River waterfront — featuring a parade with color guards, a remembrance ceremony and community events. WFXB Fox TV

- ➤ A Myrtle Beach police officer, Aaron Marcel Allston, 36, was arrested on Monday night and charged with second-degree domestic violence—he is on administrative leave and held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending judicial process. WPDE

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A study by the National Golf Foundation found that golf brought $1.6 billion to the Grand Strand in 2024—helping 13,340 people get jobs and adding $1.1 billion in revenue. Tracy Conner of the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association said the study shows that golf is very important for local tourism and spending—proving its value to our community. My Horry News

- ➤ The Horry County Board of Education voted on Aug 25th to buy 66 acres off Enoch Road in Aynor for future school facilities to address overcrowding.
