  • Dick's Pawn Superstore gave away over 1,200 clear backpacks to middle and elementary students in Horry County on Saturday in support of the new clear backpack policy, and the giveaway will continue next week at its five locations + anyone in need may receive a backpack.  WPDE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews responded at 11:00 a.m.—closing lanes on Highway 90 at Lees Landing Circle after a three-vehicle crash that critically injured two people.  WMBF News

CRIME NEWS

  • Conway police responded at about 10 p.m. Friday to shots fired at Rascal’s Bar and Grill near 1221 16th Ave and a victim was taken to a hospital—a Facebook post from the bar said the victim died and the business remains closed through today while two men were arrested for public disorderly conduct.  My Horry News
  • An 18-year-old North Carolina teen accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through Market Common on May 22 while a passenger fired at officers remains in jail after his bond was denied on Aug. 15—he faces charges including three counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, failing to stop, and weapons offenses.  The Post and Courier
  • Two men were arrested Friday night after shots were fired during a disturbance at a Conway bar — police said one person was hurt.  WMBF News
  • A Myrtle Beach teen, Marquice Young, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of fentanyl possession with intent to distribute after arrests on March 8 and March 21 and received a 10-year concurrent prison sentence—Assistant Solicitor David Beamer said the case highlights growing concerns about youthful involvement in narcotics.  My Horry News
  • Everett Ford (37) of Myrtle Beach pleaded guilty Friday to second-offense drug trafficking charges for cocaine and crack cocaine and Judge Michael G. Nettles sentenced him to 10 years in prison with concurrent terms requiring him to serve at least 85% before parole after his arrest on Nov. 9, 2022 when authorities recovered large quantities of drugs and weapons.  My Horry News
