CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Myrtle Beach police arrested 27-year-old Chadi Abdalla after security footage showed him forcing entry into Sea Level Restaurant on S. Ocean Boulevard armed with a kitchen knife to rob a woman — officers later witnessed him attempting to steal an Horry County ambulance from Coventry Boulevard.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Myrtle Beach resident Marquice Young, a 19 year old who pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and who was arrested on two occasions in March, was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison by Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson—authorities say the sentence aims to deter youth involvement in drug distribution.  WPDE
  • Police arrested a suspect after a standoff at a Horry County apartment early Friday morning—an official confirmed the suspect is in custody.  WMBF News
  • Swava Lameres McCrea, 36, of Myrtle Beach was arrested last Friday and charged with murder, sale or delivery of a pistol, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and violation of probation in connection with a 2013 carjacking death — he is held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center with no bond set.  WPDE
  • Everett Ford, 37, of Myrtle Beach pleaded guilty on Friday, August 15 to second-offense trafficking cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced to 10 years in prison concurrently—his charges count as a violent offense that requires him to serve at least 85% of his sentence after authorities found large quantities of drugs and firearms during a search at his home.  WPDE

  • A Crafter’s Paradise is hosting the Craftpalooza Expo at Springmaid Beachfront Resort Exhibit Hall on August 22nd, 23rd and 24th—local artisans, kid entrepreneurs and authors will display homemade and handmade items while mini classes, raffles and giveaways add to the experience with proceeds benefiting Crafter’s in Paradise – Healing through Creativity and a local veteran organization.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Ripley’s Aquarium will host Breakfast with a Mermaid every Tuesday and Friday through the rest of August—offering guests a live mermaid, a hot breakfast with pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit and scrambled eggs, and a chance to explore the aquarium before it opens.
