DMV Commissioner Paul Tine said the department is exploring a digital driver’s license that updates on cell phones using face recognition + a PIN for security.

He said the DMV will complete a five-year plan in December to upgrade scanners, digitize forms and add payment options, though no rollout date has been set yet.
