  • A person died after an early Sunday morning hit-and-run crash in Myrtle Beach, and police are reviewing the incident for further details.  WMBF News

  • On July 30, Kidogo Farms in Georgetown County hosted educational tours where owner Alissia Matthews shared Gullah-Geechee traditions through hands-on harvests and storytelling. The 26-acre farm offered overnight glamping in a yurt and tiny home — efforts that helped preserve heritage for local visitors.  The Post and Courier

  • Tropical Storm Dexter is moving east-northeast at 12 mph with winds near 45 mph and is expected to become post-tropical by Wednesday; meteorologists are watching a tropical wave off Africa with a 50% chance of development and a low pressure area off the southeast with a 30% chance—but neither threatens the Carolinas.  WMBF News

  • Congresswoman Nancy Mace will announce her decision on a possible gubernatorial run at The Citadel today — with polls placing her second behind Alan Wilson. Earlier, Paul Dans announced his Senate challenge against Lindsey Graham and the NAACP with students filed a federal challenge over a state budget provision that removed an AP African American Studies course — arguing it censors essential classroom content.  WPDE
  • S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson—who served 14 years and is a combat veteran—announced his run for governor and said he is ready to overhaul government by cutting the 6% state income tax and capping spending growth. He claims his law enforcement experience will help fix inefficiencies and promises to work with the legislature on these changes after the election.  My Horry News
  • Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard defended her work today amid an online petition that accused her of mishandling high-profile death investigations—she has served in the office for more than 20 years. Her colleague Robert Edge backed Willard and said the petition's claims are false while the FBI continues reviewing video evidence in a 2021 case.  WMBF News
