- ➤ Salt Life Church hosted a Back-to-School Fam-Fest in Myrtle Beach to give families free school supplies as Horry County schools prepared to reopen this month—over a thousand clear backpacks with pencils, notebooks and folders were handed out along with bouncy houses, food trucks and a visit from the Pelicans mascot. - ➤ Adaptive Surf Project, a North Myrtle Beach nonprofit that makes surfing accessible for people with disabilities, returned from Costa Rica with eight adaptive surfers & over 20 volunteers and will host Wheel to Surf events on Sept. 13 at 8:30 a.m. and Oct. 11 at 8:30 a.m. to expand its global mission. - ➤ An Horry County man from Little River was sentenced by a federal judge on Aug. 1 to 105 months in prison for drug trafficking and firearms charges from controlled fentanyl buys in October and November 2022—he will serve his full term with five years of probation since there is no parole in the federal system.
