  • City officials said the downtown revitalization project is almost done with Oak and Broadway streets getting new sidewalks, bike lanes — and smoother roads. Residents shared ideas at public meetings on the master plan that includes a new Arts and Innovation District and a $22 million theatre, with more improvements planned for after August.  WPDE

  • Myrtle Beach timeshare club Capital Vacations is facing a lawsuit from former manager Jasmine Ray, who accused the company of racism, wrongful termination and retaliation. The company issued a statement on July 24 denying the claims—its zero-tolerance policy for discrimination remains firm—while noting that the EEOC dismissed her complaint.  The Post and Courier
  • Pedal Pub wants to launch its popular 15-passenger party bikes on the Grand Strand after presenting its proposal to city councils in Myrtle Beach and Conway; the company will return soon with an updated plan.   • At 2:15 a.m. Wednesday near Riverside Elementary School on Highway 57, a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside a car, fired shots that caused bullet-hole damage while the driver was unhurt—leaving investigators to determine the shooter's identity.  WFXB Fox TV
  • PETA urged the USDA on July 23 to investigate Myrtle Beach Safari because it claims that Bhagavan 'Doc' Antle has been handling animals without proper licenses and endangering elephant Bubbles and chimpanzee Tara — following his July 8 sentencing for wildlife crimes and allegations that his partner acquired a license to bypass AWA rules.  The Post and Courier
  • A wanted man was arrested during a high-risk traffic stop in Surfside Beach on July 24th at 3:35 p.m.—authorities confirmed the arrest following the incident.  WMBF News
  • On Thursday afternoon, officers responded at 4:35 p.m. to a barricaded subject situation on Saggitarius Drive near the Prestwick Community in Surfside Beach and took the suspect into custody—SWAT teams and ambulances helped secure the scene.  WPDE

  • Grand Strand shelters are preparing for extreme heat expected this weekend into early next week — heat indexes may hit the 100s.  WMBF News

  • Horry County Fire Rescue detailed that 10 new ambulances will soon be assigned to several stations across the county to boost emergency services + officials expect the updated vehicles to enhance response times.  WMBF News

  • Next year’s ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic will begin on May 7 and run through May 10 at Dunes Golf and Beach Club—its third year hosting the event—and will feature 120 players after reducing the field by 12.  WFXB Fox TV
