- ➤ On Monday at 12:20 a.m., Horry County police responded to a call at 1305 Tadlock Drive in Murrells Inlet after a man in a minivan asked for a Sprite then pulled a gun on Wendy’s employees who made everyone hide in the office—police later could not locate his vehicle. WMBF News

- ➤ South Carolina's Tax Free Weekend (Aug. 1-3) lets shoppers buy school supplies, clothing, computers and shoes without paying sales tax. The state Department of Revenue says the exemption applies only to these back-to-school items (exclusions apply to other products). WPDE

- ➤ The City of Myrtle Beach is asking residents to provide feedback on the population element of its Comprehensive Plan, which will help shape future housing, services + infrastructure. The city’s survey is open until July 31 to collect community input. WPDE

- ➤ Andrew and Bethany Woolfolk visited Tidelands Health Pediatrics and Adult Medicine in Pawleys Island during spring break to thank Dr. Scott Nicol (who saved their newborn son during an emergency delivery in 2016) for his care. The family also took photos (to capture their gratitude) as a reminder of the life-saving treatment that helped their son thrive. WPDE
- ➤ On Sunday, Myrtle Beach experienced a heat advisory with the heat index reaching 90 before 5 a.m. and 100 before 11 a.m.—Midway Fire Rescue responded to around six calls on Saturday as residents sought air conditioning; a Heat Advisory was in effect on Monday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. as officials urged everyone to stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illness.
