  • Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown County announced it will host its fourth gala and silent auction on Sept. 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Convention Center in Myrtle Beach—organizers aim to raise funds for a new facility after last year’s donation of 22 acres.  WPDE
  • Jasmine Ray—a former manager of Capital Vacations—has filed a lawsuit claiming she faced racism, retaliation, and wrongful termination after nearly two years of unfair treatment in a hostile work environment in Myrtle Beach. Her attorney said she seeks full damages under the law for the alleged abuse by White supervisors.  The Post and Courier

  • Popular Myrtle Beach brewery Tidal Creek Brewhouse is planning a $3 million expansion called Tidal Creek Pickle House behind its current location at The Market Common. CRIME NEWS

  • Ashley Mershanna Baker, 34, from Longs was arrested on July 10 for attempted murder and weapon possession—she allegedly used a firearm on Highway 90 to shoot a victim, causing a wound in the arm that led to injury in the ribcage.  WPDE

  • The South Carolina Court of Appeals (on July 16) upheld a jury award of more than $20 million in the Lack’s Beach Service lawsuit, which involved the family of a man who drowned in Myrtle Beach (ensuring the family will receive the compensation).  WMBF News
  • The City of Myrtle Beach is teaming with a tech company to pilot a new system that will make finding parking downtown easier. The program is set to begin soon—aiming to reduce the time drivers spend searching for a spot.  WMBF News

  • Kim Rogers-Clora turned her grief after losing her mother (to breast cancer) into hope by creating the Jacqueline Rodgers Foundation to help cancer patients pay everyday bills. Her nonprofit organizes pink ribbon walks and fundraisers to support families while fighting the disease.  WPDE
