COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Horry County celebrated the kickoff of the new Isaiah 117 House initiative on July 13th — a project that will offer a safe space with clean clothes, toys, and support for foster children removed for safety reasons. The initiative will work with the local Department of Social Services and community partners to choose a location for the third house in South Carolina.  WPDE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews arrived at 4:33 a.m. early Sunday after a car reportedly crashed into a home on the 10000 block of West Highway 19 in Loris— the crash involved an ejection and entrapment with critical injuries and significant home damage, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol with Horry County Police are investigating.  WMBF News
  • Critical injuries were reported after an early Sunday morning vehicle — building crash in Loris where Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched just after 4:30 a.m. to a residence on West Highway 19 and the area remains blocked as investigators from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Horry County Police Department examined the scene.  WPDE
  • Authorities in Pawleys Island responded to a report of a swimmer in distress after bystanders could not complete a rescue—deploying a marine unit, drone operator, a Coast Guard helicopter, Midway Fire Rescue and the Pawleys Island Police Department near Atlantic Avenue.  WMBF News
  • A body was recovered from the ocean off Pawleys Island on Sunday evening after a report of a swimmer in distress, with multiple agencies—including the Sheriff's Office, Pawleys Island Police Department, Midway Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard—assisting in the recovery.  The Post and Courier
  • Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a watercraft crash near the Yauhannah Bridge on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.—three people were injured and taken to the hospital.  WPDE
