ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Drivers were advised to avoid Highway 501 near Waccamaw Pines Drive—two lanes were blocked after a two-vehicle crash that led Horry County Fire Rescue to respond just before 1:00 p.m., resulting in two people taken to a hospital while one signed a transport waiver as South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated.  WMBF News
  • Two people were taken to the hospital after a jet ski they were riding collided with a dock in Horry County on the Intracoastal Waterway — officers are investigating the accident.  WMBF News
  • A jet ski crash on Saturday morning near Osprey Road on the Intracoastal Waterway in Horry County left one person in the hospital (dispatch was recorded at 9:31 a.m.) while the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources investigates the incident.  WMBF News
  • Officials are searching for a possible missing swimmer after a person in red shorts was last seen near Ocean Front Bar and Grill — a Coast Guard helicopter and local teams are coordinating the search along the Grand Strand.  WMBF News

  • Horry County police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that left one person dead and another critically injured overnight—investigations remain ongoing.  WMBF News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tropical Storm Chantal formed off the coast and was expected to make landfall overnight Saturday, July 5—south of Myrtle Beach—prompting a high risk of rip currents along the shore. The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory from 2 p.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. today and urged swimmers to remain near lifeguards.  My Horry News
