North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club launched a tribute to veterans and first responders by displaying flags at McLean Park that began with an opening ceremony last Saturday— the display will run through Sunday, July 13.
Individuals can honor a veteran or first responder by purchasing a flag for $100 that includes the honoree's name, service branch, and rank.
On Sunday afternoon, First Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach hosted the American Celebration Concert to honor veterans and celebrate the nation’s freedoms.
Choir director Norman McQueen said the event featured official military branch songs, local brass players, and an old-fashioned sing-along that ended with lemonade and cookies — uniting the local community.
Horry County Fire Rescue was called to a small stovetop fire at a multi-unit home on the 5000 block of South Kings Highway in Surfside Beach Sunday evening—no injuries were reported and crews are ventilating the building with help from the Surfside Beach Fire Department.
