ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire in Aynor on Saturday injured one person who was taken to the hospital — Horry County Fire Rescue arrived at 6:59 p.m. on Good Luck Road as three displaced residents received help from the American Red Cross while authorities investigate the cause.  WMBF News

CRIME NEWS

  • Myrtle Beach Police responded yesterday at 5:00 p.m. to an assault at 1845 Mr. Joe White Avenue—one person suffered life-threatening stab wounds while another was taken into custody and the injured was transported to a hospital.  WPDE

SPORTS NEWS

  • On June 22, during the first inning of Game 2 of the College World Series Finals, Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schillin were ejected for arguing the ball-strike count with umpire Angel Campos — both coaches were suspended for two games so Schnall will not join the dugout if the team plays today.  WPDE
  • Coastal Carolina fans in Omaha stay dedicated at the College World Series even though LSU supporters outnumber them—former catcher Tommy Baker and other long-time fans show deep pride and hope for a national title. They met near the stadium with friendly gestures as they prepared to cheer on their team.  The Post and Courier
  • Coastal Carolina University wants the NCAA to review umpire training after head coach Kevin Schnall and assistant coach Matt Schilling were sent from a national championship game on June 22 — the school said the hasty ejections left its players without needed guidance during a key moment.  The Post and Courier
