ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Beech BE58 plane flying from Spartanburg to Myrtle Beach crashed near Tabor City at around 1 p.m. Saturday—its impact in a wooded area near Old Dothan Road and NC 905 confirmed by authorities—killing both people onboard. WMBF News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Better Business Bureau Eastern Carolinas warned TikTok users of a scam that uses videos with emotional donation appeals to support animal shelters—scammers use realistic looking clips and images to mislead donors with false charity links. WPDE
- ➤ On May 17, Horry County officers chased a stolen car near Suggs Street in Loris that was speeding at 100 mph and set stop sticks on Highway 905 and Freemont Road— the chase ended when 21‐year‐old Yashua Divine Ishmel Hytower fled on foot into the woods and was charged with vehicle theft and firearm violations, while his passenger, 21‐year‐old Makivee Antwon Langley, was arrested on drug charges. - ➤ Gas prices in South Carolina jumped 13.7 cents to about $2.83 per gallon in the past week as oil prices surged because of ongoing attacks between Israel and Iran—experts said pump prices could rise another 10 to 20 cents if tensions persist. WPDE

- ➤ A new trash-fighting tool debuted in the Arts & Innovation District on June 16 at 2:07 p.m. Officials said the tool will help improve waste management and reduce litter in the area. WMBF News

- ➤ Myrtle Beach leaders approved a $360.7M budget with no property tax increase and a 5% raise for city employees, and Mayor Brenda Bethune donated 1.45 acres valued at $650,000 for stormwater improvements — the land closing is set to occur on or before December 21. My Horry News
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Russell Fry and local leaders opposed offshore drilling off Myrtle Beach because they believed it would harm the tourism economy and coastal environment.
