  • A Myrtle Beach man almost threw away a $3 lottery ticket after using leftover change at Food Lion on Dick Pond Road — officials said the ticket was worth $75,000. He now uses his winnings to help his family, church, and others.  WMBF News
  • Karate World in Garden City will host a free women's Jits and Sips event on June 21 from noon until 2 p.m. The event will feature food+ mimosas+ jiu-jitsu lessons to help boost fitness, mindset and self-defense skills.  WFXB Fox TV

  • Grand Strand Brewing created a special drink called Jobtown that honors first responders with a cherry-wood smoke beer flavor and a hint of sweetness.   • Former Horry County deputy coroner Christopher Dontell testified on June 11 against his ex-lover Meagan Jackson in her murder trial by saying she threatened his life and admitting his role in Gregory Rice’s killing—his cross-examination resumes today.  The Post and Courier
  • Two Florida men, aged 54 and 50, were convicted for conspiring to distribute cocaine after Myrtle Beach hotel staff found more than $30,000 in drugs in a room — the discovery linked them to a larger trafficking operation.  WPDE
  • Horry County police said they are investigating a suspicious death of a child in Carolina Forest, after EMS was called to Sago Palm Drive near Legends Drive and Highway 501 — the child later died at the hospital from head injuries — and the investigation remains in its early stages.  WMBF News

  • Carolina Country Music Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary last weekend when nearly 40,000 fans came to see acts like Kid Rock, Lainey Wilson, and Jelly Roll as weather evacuations tested safety measures. Local business owners reported a boost in customers and the event generated about $50 million for Myrtle Beach's economy—organizers have already begun planning next year's festival for June 4-7, 2026 without moving its location— and they expect similar success in the future.  WMBF News

  • The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management reopened review of the offshore oil and gas leasing program in South Carolina waters—critics say new drilling plans may harm tourism, marine life and local fishing. Residents can submit comments by Monday, June 16.  WPDE
