Myrtle Beach Police say an affidavit details that 18-year-old Jawarren Bethea was arrested after a shooting on 8th Avenue North where officers found three .380 casings—he now faces gun charges and was released on a $20,000 bond.

On May 26th, Horry County police arrested 23-year-old James Bryson Smith after officers found a fatally shot dog near Galivants Ferry — two red shotgun shells were recovered near the scene and a witness said a green GMC pickup drove away before Smith was released on a $2,500 bond.

The trial continues today for Meagan Jackson and Christopher Dontell, who face charges of murder and criminal conspiracy in the 2020 death of Gregory Rice.

Myrtle Beach City Council voted 6—1 on Tuesday to agree to a 30-year lease for Pelicans Stadium so the Myrtle Beach Pelicans will stay on the Grand Strand after months of uncertainty.

The lease sets rents at $850,000 per year for 20 years and $950,000 per year for the last 10 years following Horry County’s $8.25 million buyout while the team’s chairman added an extra $100,000 for the first 10 years.
