  • Operation Christmas Child will hold its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser as Mike + Miriam discussed event details in the studio today. The $100 entry fee will include breakfast, lunch, one door prize raffle ticket + one mulligan while proceeds benefit Henry & Dorothy Davis Orphanage in Quito, Ecuador, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry + local Horry and Georgetown Counties.  WFXB Fox TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On Friday, police responded to a welfare check at Wallingford Circle in Myrtle Beach when 29-year-old Sasha Alexandra Rodriguez—who told a child she was a mermaid and removed her clothing while acting erratically near a pond—was arrested for unlawful conduct toward a child.  WPDE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Conway Medical Center and the Department of Natural Resources reached a deal that added 353 acres to Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve in Carolina Forest, growing it to 10,788 acres. State lawmakers and environmental leaders celebrated the milestone on June 10—highlighting the win-win for local wildlife and community preservation.  My Horry News

  • Nearly 200 residents gathered at North Myrtle Beach City Hall Tuesday to give feedback on short-term rental issues—such as parking, speeding and safety—and city officials are planning to review new regulations later this year. The city's planning director said a follow-up event for rental owners will be held in August.  WPDE
  • The Myrtle Beach City Council amended and passed the second reading Tuesday by a vote of six to one to keep the Pelicans in town + owner Chuck Greenberg had offered an extra $100,000 per year for the lease. The team celebrated its game Tuesday night with a fireworks display.  WPDE
