ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vehicle crashed into a building in Surfside Beach early Monday at 2:15 a.m.—the impact caused significant damage and displaced residents in eight units while no one was hurt and officials responded.  WMBF News
  • A vehicle collided with a residential unit on Monday morning along the 2000 block of Clearwater Drive in Surfside Beach — displacing residents from eight units — while fire crews responded at 2:15 a.m.  WPDE

CRIME NEWS

  • Myrtle Beach police arrested Dale Michael McTaggart, 44, on Sunday for armed robbery, assault while resisting arrest, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime—police responded after a barricaded person situation developed at 7 p.m. Saturday on the 400 block of 27th Avenue North—and he is held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $200,000 bond.  WPDE

CULTURE NEWS

  • Myrtle Beach is set to host the 10th anniversary of the Carolina Country Music Festival from June 5 to 8—city officials say about 30,000 visitors are expected and new safety measures have been put in place. Myrtle Beach police and city leaders reported that advanced security tools and traffic plans, including road closures and late-night adjustments, will be used to manage heavy turnout and ensure safety.  The Post and Courier

  • Gina Casazza of EmpowerLit: Literacy & Beyond said the nonprofit will hold an adult spelling bee at Voodoo Brewery from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11th — the contest will offer prizes to support literacy work — and sign-ups are limited.  WFXB Fox TV

  • The city of Myrtle Beach held a news conference on June 2 to share final plans for the Carolina Country Music Fest, which kicks off Thursday—officials said the preparations aim to ensure a smooth event.  WMBF News
  • NOAA forecast an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season with 13 to 19 named storms, 6 to 10 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major hurricanes, and Gov. McMaster urged residents to prepare by planning evacuations and securing a three-day kit. Myrtle Beach emergency management advised locals to stay informed via MB Alerts—a free local text service—and follow updated guidance as the season runs through Nov. 30.  My Horry News
