- ➤ A 19-year-old man, Shawon Shamarion Williams, was arrested in Lake County, Illinois in connection with a shooting at a Little River boat party on May 25 that injured 10 people, and he is expected to face charges for attempted murder and weapon possession before being extradited to Horry County. - ➤ Horry County police are investigating a shooting near Loris where a victim was shot multiple times and driven to a hospital—officers found blood, casings, and reports of damage to nearby homes and a car. WMBF News
- ➤ Myrtle Beach Police released dash cam video showing an 18-year-old firing at a crowd outside a restaurant on Ocean Boulevard on April 26 near midnight, where an officer returned fire, killing him and injuring 11 (police continue to investigate the shooting along with additional linked incidents). - ➤ Horry County police responded Tuesday to an armed robbery and carjacking on Luster Leaf Circle when a visitor meeting friends at an Airbnb was robbed at gunpoint by three suspects—one told him to get naked before taking his rental car from an empty lot on Carver Street—and said the case will be administratively closed due to limited information. - ➤ SCDOT is accepting public comments through June 6 on plans to upgrade a six-mile stretch of North Kings Highway between 27th Avenue North and Cove Drive with high-visibility crosswalks, concrete medians, countdown signal heads and ADA ramps—construction is set to begin in 2027 and will keep the road open during the work. A five-year study recorded 1,050 crashes with seven fatalities and 347 injuries, prompting calls for much-needed safety improvements. My Horry News
