  • Myrtle Beach held its Memorial Day remembrance ceremony to honor the fallen service members—remembering thousands who lost their lives during military service.  WMBF News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An officer with the North Myrtle Beach Police Department accidentally shot himself and was hospitalized, police said—he is recovering under medical care.  WMBF News

CRIME NEWS

  • Doc Antle, owner of Myrtle Beach Safari and star from Tiger King, pleaded guilty in 2023 to illegally selling wildlife and laundering money + he will be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. June 10 in federal court in Charleston + he must also give up his property and any interest in animals per his plea agreement.  The Post and Courier
  • The owner of Myrtle Beach Safari+ highlighted in Tiger King+ pleaded guilty to a federal fraud case and will soon learn his sentence.  WMBF News
  • Horry County Police responded to an apparent shooting on Watson Avenue in Little River on May 25, with 11 people taken to hospitals – the investigation remains active.  WMBF News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A new moon peaked Monday evening and triggered a king tide that caused minor coastal flooding in low-lying spots along the Grand Strand—areas like Garden City, Pawleys Island, and Murrells Inlet—with residents reporting water on roadways for 60 to 90 minutes. Flooding is expected to occur again Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  WPDE

  • Coastal Carolina will host the 2025 D1 Baseball Regionals on Friday at Springs Brooks Stadium — scattered showers and storms may delay the first two games. A cold front will move offshore by Saturday and Sunday as sunny skies and mid-80s highs return.  WPDE
