CRIME NEWS

  • Stephen Stanko, who killed Henry Lee Turner in 2005, is set to be executed on Friday, June 13—his victim’s son Roger Turner said he will attend the execution to watch him face his sentence.  My Horry News
  • At least 11 people were injured in a shooting in Little River as police responded around 9:30 p.m.—a North Myrtle Beach officer accidentally shot himself on scene and is in stable condition.  The Post and Courier
  • Early Sunday morning, Horry County police chased a Ford Fusion that fled a traffic stop near Highway 17 Bypass and Robert Grissom Parkway at about 1:10 a.m., using stop sticks+ a grappler tool after officers saw items thrown from inside, and they detained four people while suspected drugs were found at the scene.  WMBF News
  • On May 25th, Horry County Police responded to an apparent shooting on Watson Avenue in Little River—transporting 11 people to local hospitals—and said the incident appeared isolated with no current risk to the community.  My Horry News
  • Atlantic Beach officials said there were no mass casualties at Bikefest on Saturday night after a couple of fights caused panic and some people were injured and taken to the hospital—officials urged those spreading false information to correct the record as the event paused briefly before continuing until 3 a.m. and will run today to mark 45 years.  My Horry News
  • Fights broke out at the Atlantic Beach Bikefest early May 25 and 19 people were taken by ambulance for minor injuries such as dehydration or trampling—town officials said the festival will continue until 3 p.m. today.  The Post and Courier
  • After two shooting incidents on Sunday night—one on Watson Avenue in Little River and the other near Harbourgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach where an officer was shot and 11 people were taken to area hospitals—Horry County Police confirmed the incidents are isolated with no current risk to the community.  WPDE
