The SCDNR is urging boaters to wear life jackets and avoid impaired boating after eight fatal incidents statewide so far in 2026.

Officers will patrol waterways and offer free inspections & safety courses over the Memorial Day weekend.

At Bikefest this morning, a reported stampede near the stage area on South Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Beach left 19 people injured (three of whom were taken to a hospital) as emergency crews arrived at 1:05 a.m.

On May 24, during Atlantic Beach Bikefest, a stampede near a stage on South Ocean Boulevard injured more than a dozen people (three were transported and 16 evaluated by Horry County Fire Rescue) and none of the injuries were life-threatening.
