- ➤ Multiple Memorial Day events will take place this weekend and early next week across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. In Myrtle Beach, a parade will start today at 10 a.m. along Pampas Drive, Howard Avenue, and Farrow Parkway with a free family picnic at Grand Park in Market Common — while Monday events include ceremonies at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, a golf cart parade in Surfside Beach — followed by a service at Memorial Park and remembrance ceremonies at Dillon Cemetery and at the S.C. - ➤ John Stokes, a 61-year-old man, was arrested for a fatal hit and run after a pedestrian was struck at 5:30 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of 10th Avenue South and Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach—he admitted to hitting an object and not stopping as he continued on his way. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ Myrtle Beach police said that during a high-speed chase on May 22 on 67th Avenue North, 20-year-old Omarion Glass—shooting at officers—and 17-year-old Riley Pegram were later denied bond on May 23. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Paul Charles Morphy, 60, pleaded guilty on Thursday, May 22nd for assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest and burglary at Advanced Car Care in Conway and received a maximum 10-year sentence for assault with an additional 10-year term for burglary. WPDE

- ➤ Atlantic Beach began the 45th Annual Memorial Day Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival yesterday when crews installed a traffic chute on Highway 17 to protect bike riders near Main Street. Local vendors and businesses are joining the weekend festivities as police maintain a strong presence to ensure safety. WPDE

- ➤ Horry County Schools will offer free summer lunches for anyone 18 or younger — served Monday through Thursday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at several schools in Horry County throughout June and July, and children must be accompanied by an adult. My Horry News

- ➤ On May 21, the new 46th Avenue beach access in North Myrtle Beach was unveiled to let wheelchair users easily reach the tide line (it offers an 85 foot long mat, five beach wheelchairs and six handicap parking spots) and is a first of its kind project for the area. My Horry News
- ➤ Market Common officials announced planned road closures today from 8 a.m. to noon for the Military Appreciation Days parade along Johnson Avenue, Farrow Parkway, and Phillis Boulevard—police will manage detours to help vehicles navigate the route. WPDE
