ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two people were sent to the hospital after a crash involving a Horry County police car on Sunday, May 18 — local officials confirmed the incident resulted in injuries.  WMBF News
  • A 40-year-old passenger, Jessica Woodall, died when her motorcycle struck a raised concrete median near the Highway 17 North off-ramp at Sea Mountain Highway just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday—police are investigating the fatal crash.  WMBF News
  • Horry County Fire Rescue responded at 3:32 p.m. on Sunday to a crash on the 1000 block of Highway 544 in Conway—where a vehicle hit a building and one person sustained minor injuries—while SC Highway Patrol and Horry County Police investigated the scene; the affected business was evacuated after a support beam was damaged.  WPDE
  • A biker riding a 1999 Harley Davidson spilled their bike while riding north on Todd Boulevard near Coastal Carolina University on May 16 at about 12:15 a.m.—the rider was taken to a nearby hospital where they died, and no other vehicles were involved as the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigates.  My Horry News
  • Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on *Papas Bay Road* in Loris early Friday morning, May 16, which killed 62-year-old Carol Triplette and saw support from South Carolina Highway Patrol and Loris Fire Department as officials begin investigating the cause.  My Horry News

CRIME NEWS

  • Police charged 53 year old Joyanna Vansant with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after a welfare check on Friday led officers to a home on Dinger Court in the Burgess area—officers found a dead individual in a closet and evidence of a shooting while Vansant is held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center with no bond.  WMBF News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Former NCAA and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow delivered an inspiring message to 2,500 men on Sunday evening at Langston Baptist Church, urging them to be strong, confident, and faithful. The event featured pre-worship activities with food trucks and games and included local groups such as the Conway High School and Coastal Carolina University football teams as well as members of the Pelicans baseball team — adding energy before worship began.  WPDE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The SCDES has issued a short-term swimming advisory for water near the Hazard St access point at Pawleys Island in Georgetown County because bacteria levels exceed state and federal standards — visitors may wade, fish or collect shells but should avoid swallowing the water or entering it with open wounds. Officials stated that the advisory will remain until further tests show bacteria levels have returned to normal.  WPDE
