Dagwood's Deli and Sports Bar in Surfside Beach reopened after a January fire forced a four-month closure, with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Educational Foundation holding ribbon cutting ceremonies to mark its triumphant return.
Owner Maribeth Lamuraglia said the reopening showed a united team—helping them overcome the challenges.

A celebration was held Monday in Murrells Inlet to mark Lee’s Inlet Kitchen’s 77th anniversary ribbon cutting at 4460 Highway 17 Business with help from the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce.

Carloz Cruz-Hernandez (43) was arrested on Saturday at Joseph Road after he shot a victim in the right thigh and is charged with attempted murder and weapon possession.

Leon Everette, a country music artist and veteran, will be inducted into the South Carolina Entertainment and Music Hall of Fame on May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Greg Rowles Legacy Theater in North Myrtle Beach during the 2025 Casey Kasem Experience—he will be celebrated for his chart-topping hits and lasting legacy.

Officials with the South Carolina Forestry Commission said that rain improved containment of the Carolina Forest wildfire to 93% in Horry County—firefighters continue working to control the blaze.
🏛️ Government
Myrtle Beach City Council approved a 30-year lease on Tuesday to keep the Pelicans at Pelicans Ballpark with annual payments of $750,000 for the first 10 years and $850,000 for years 11–20 while the team handles stadium upkeep and upgrades.
The lease—dividing ownership 70% for Myrtle Beach and 30% for Horry County—awaits a public hearing by Horry County Council later this month.
