- ➤ Sherrie Keen from the Loris Civitan Club invites local businesses to join the Community Flag Program that places American flags on seven holidays at fronts along Highway 9 and Highway 701. The program costs $40 annually with flags set out in the morning and picked up later. My Horry News
- ➤ Officials have paused road construction along U.S. 17 ahead of the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally, where about 400K bikers are expected until Sunday (SCDOT will monitor traffic closely to keep riders safe). WPDE

- ➤ Today, more than 1,000 residents lost power in Myrtle Beach after seven outages disrupted local homes, Santee Cooper reported from Horry County. WPDE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NOAA approved state permits that extend the red snapper season to 61-62 days this summer. SCDNR will pilot an electronic reporting program with Bluefin Data to track catches from July 1 to Aug. 31 off the coast. WPDE
- ➤ Former Horry County councilman and board member Howard Barnard died at 81 on May 11 after resigning on April 1 due to health concerns; his memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 at First Presbyterian Church, Grissom Campus (3810 Robert M Grissom Parkway). My Horry News
