  • Gas prices in SC climbed by 18.7 cents in the past week — nearing $4 per gallon as of Monday — according to GasBuddy. Experts say local rates are up $1.24 from last year as supply conditions remain volatile.  WPDE

  • Myrtle Beach City Government said the Arcadian Shores beach renourishment project will start later Monday or Tuesday despite recent equipment problems - delays remain.  WPDE
  • Gov. McMaster declared May as Foster Care Awareness Month statewide to boost support for local foster care programs and highlight resources for families in need.  WPDE
  • Horry County and Loris lifted their outdoor burn bans Monday morning, allowing residents to resume permitted outdoor burning under updated local rules.  WMBF News

  • In May 2025, Jeannie Fox of Loris closed her family-owned catering business, Fox on the Run, after receiving a Stage 3 melanoma diagnosis & needing time for treatment.   • Lawson Family Dentistry moved to a modern office at 1906 Main Street on Monday, May 4 and began welcoming new patients. The practice will host a grand-opening on May 22 from 2 to 3 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting, refreshments + light bites, and a scholarship announcement.  My Horry News
