ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Horry County Fire Rescue said lanes on East Highway 9 near Charter Drive in Longs were blocked after a two-vehicle crash just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday that flipped one car and left one person taken to the hospital (three others signed medical transport waivers) as the highway patrol investigates.  WMBF News

  • Burky's Grill in Myrtle Beach reopens today after a fire in December 2023. The restaurant will run from 11am-10pm daily on North Kings Highway and owners say most of the crew is returning.  WFXB Fox TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Conway Police are searching for Davion 'Chino' Hunt in connection with the April 19 murder of 24-year-old V'ron Gibbs at a Conway intersection—Hunt is considered armed and dangerous while Traeqwan Wilson has been arrested and charged with murder with no bail set.  My Horry News
  • Conway police responded on April 29 to shots fired at a home on Horry Street where one victim was critically injured and an 18 year old, Ja'Niya Richburg, died when a bullet entered through a window—law enforcement continues its investigation.  My Horry News
  • One person remained in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting along Ocean Boulevard that injured 11 people and resulted in the death of 18-year-old Jerrius Davis on April 30—three officers were placed on leave—and officials said more updates will follow as the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division continues its investigation.  My Horry News

  • Dr. John Stamey discussed the upcoming Bigfoot Comicon and Myrtle Beast Bigfoot Festival that will be held May 9 and 10 at the Sheraton Four Points in Myrtle Beach. Friday events include a Bigfoot Roundtable from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and an opening reception from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.—Saturday features vendor and speaker sessions starting at 8:30 a.m.  WFXB Fox TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Horry Georgetown Technical College and the College of Charleston announced a transfer agreement that gives HGTC students with an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration a formal pathway to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree.
