ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fire crews responded to a Saturday fire at 5:15 p.m. on Sawgrass Lane in the Longs community; the blaze damaged three structures, including one with heavy damage, was controlled by 6:30 p.m. + three residents received aid from the American Red Cross while the cause is under investigation.  WFXB Fox TV

  • Conway will open its first PetSmart on Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m. at Coastal Centre on Cottage Lane. The 23,000 sqft store offers pet training + grooming and adoptions for local pet owners.  My Horry News

  • Myrtle Beach officials warn residents to expect lingering smoke — a result of a recent woods fire — and advise those sensitive to air quality to limit outdoor exposure as conditions improve.  WPDE
  • Officials in Georgetown County and the Grand Strand are urging residents to cut water use during the ongoing drought affecting the Carolinas (households are encouraged to take water-saving measures immediately).  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Horry County hosted a meeting Monday night to collect feedback on adding industrial corridors to its Imagine 20-40 plan. County officials said residents’ input will guide future land use maps — and more opportunities to give feedback are expected in late summer.  WPDE
