On Saturday, attendees locked themselves in kennels at the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach to raise funds and awareness for the local animal shelter (a unique event that highlighted community spirit).

Organizers hoped the event would boost long-term support for pet welfare.

On Sunday, Apr. 19, Tidal Creek Brewhouse hosted a cornhole doubles tournament with food and a raffle that raised funds for the police K-9 unit — the event helped fill a local funding gap for six working canines assisting patrols.
